The coming year will be a year of discovery for z/VSE users. With z/VSE 5.1 available as of Nov. 25, 2011, we will be installing, implementing, and becoming intimately acquainted with this new version of z/VSE. The education events and conferences scheduled for 2012 will focus on the new version, with detailed technical sessions and user experiences. The events and conferences known at this time include:
April 13 - 17, 2012—WAVV in Covington, KY: WAVV 2012 will be held at the Embassy Suites in Covington, KY (greater Cincinnati area). The agenda grid with session titles is available at www.wavv.org; as the abstracts are completed, they will also be posted. The session grid for WAVV 2012 contains excellent technical sessions.
May 21 - 25, 2012—IBM System z Technical University in Europe: The popular IBM System z Technical University featuring z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE and Linux on System z will be held in Berlin, Germany. For more information, visit www.ibm.com.
September/October 2012—Planning for WAVV 2013: The WAVV planning sessions are now done via Web conferencing in September and October, so be sure a WAVV committee person knows ahead of time what session topics are important to you and is aware of your ideas to improve the WAVV experience. Oct. 1 - 5, 2012—IBM System z Technical University in Las Vegas: Technical experts from IBM will share their knowledge on z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE, and Linux on System z. In 2012, IBM is expanding the topic coverage to include DB2, CICS, WebSphere MQ, IMS, and Cognos. For more information, visit www.ibm.com.
Oct. 22 - 24, 2012—European GSE/IBM Technical University for z/VSE, z/VM, and Linux on System z in Mainz, Germany: Now in its sixth year, this event provides great information directly from the technical wizards who develop z/VSE, z/VM, and Linux on System z.
